Wax Stone by Linde Freya Tangelder is based on the original idea of sculptural blocks precariously placed on top of each other in a seemingly unstable architectural column. Intrigued by liquid materials that shape-shift to become solid, the designer began experimenting with glass to discover the multiple facets of this material, playing with transparency, tactile sensations, and light to create not only an object but also an atmosphere. The collection consists of columns made from glass cubes blown by Murano artisans into cast iron molds. The components, stacked vertically on top of each other, are linked by a central LED tube that illuminates the entire piece with a warm light.
