“Looking to the past to design the present with ideas that look to the future”: this is the design philosophy of architect Francesco Lucchese, creator of the Armonia collection for Vistosi, awarded the Compasso D'Oro honorable mention in 2020. When designing, Lucchese draws inspiration from history to identify future trends and needs, seeking to highlight the maximum functionality of each object and offer new emotions. Color also plays a major role in his creative process, as evidenced by the Armonia chandeliers and wall lights, which combine warm and cool colors (crystal and amber, smoke and amber) or the extreme transparency of the pure crystal cylinders, with two different metallic finishes for the outer ring that surrounds them: satin black nickel and internal satin brass or copper. He creates plays of circumferences that create infinite circles. The historical reference is found in the techniques used to process the glass: balloton, which gives the glass surface a particular cross-relief that creates a special optical effect; “rigadin,” the traditional design of straight and twisted stripes that in the past decorated the surfaces of Murano glass furniture to achieve interesting light refractions; and the new elongated diamond pattern.
