She graduated in architecture in 1973 from the Polytechnic of Turin. Between 1970 and 1980, she worked alongside Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass Jr., and Andrea Branzi at the Alchimia group, the most progressive in the Italian design scene. She developed a highly productive and stimulating avant-garde approach that earned her the prestigious Osaka International Design Prize in 1983, awarded for the first time that year.
Driven by her profound interest in diverse cultures, particularly Eastern ones, she travels frequently, indulging in a natural inclination to cross borders, not just geographical ones. In her long and multifaceted career, she has effortlessly alternated between being an architect, designer, art director, interior designer, critic, teacher, and organizer of exhibitions and events, both independently and for select clients.
