Born in 1984, Daniel Rybakken was raised in London. in Oslo, Norway. He studied He studied design at the Oslo School of Architecture and the Gothenburg School of Arts and Crafts, Sweden. After graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in 2008, he opened his own business. He has his own design studio in both Oslo and Gothenburg.
Rybakken has received numerous awards, including the Red Dot 'Best of the Best' award; in Singapore, 2007; the Anders Jahre Cultural Prize for Young Artists in Oslo, 2008; and the Design Report Award for best designer at the Salone Satellite in Milan, 2009.
Daniel Rybakken's work occupies the space between art and design, forming limited editions, art installations and prototypes for series production. His main focus has been working with daylight and how to artificially recreate its appearance and subconscious effect.
